You Don't Have to Talk About Your Trauma to Heal From It
The Old Model of Trauma Treatment
For decades, trauma treatment assumed that healing required narrating the experience; telling the story over and over until it lost its charge. For many people, that approach works. The story gets told enough times that it stops feeling like an emergency.
For many others, it retraumatizes. Reliving the memory out loud, session after session, can feel like living through it again, not processing it, just repeating it. Some people leave therapy before they ever get to the healing part, because the path there asks too much of them too soon.
What ART Does Differently
ART stands for Accelerated Resolution Therapy. In an ART session, you hold the memory in your mind. You don't have to share the details with your therapist. You know what you're looking at. I don't need to.
The processing happens through guided imagery and eye movements, not through language. While you hold the memory privately, a structured set of guided eye movements helps your brain shift how the memory is stored. You can change what you see, "rescripting" the memory so it no longer triggers the same response. A memory that once played on a loop, sharp and intrusive, can become something you can look at from a distance, without the body reacting as if it's happening now.
Most people notice a shift within one to five sessions, rather than stretched across months of weekly appointments.
Why This Matters
Many people avoid trauma therapy because they can't face talking about what happened. Some have never said it out loud to anyone. Some worry about being judged, or about how the therapist will look at them afterward, or simply don't have words for it yet. ART removes that barrier. You process the memory without being required to expose it.
The privacy of your experience stays yours — and the healing still happens. You don't owe anyone your story in order to be free of it.
